Baltazar Molina

Baltazar Molina is a musician and facilitator, unique in the way he fuses the most diverse musical languages and techniques.

With a strong inspiration in the music of the Middle East and a fascination with sound experimentation, his creative and musical signature is bewildering. This versatile style, combined with a genuine interest in interdisciplinary crossover and personal development, translates into an abundance of projects, collaborations and the authorship of several soundtracks for dance, theater and new circus, which form part of an eclectic discography and an extensive list of stages and events performed both in Portugal and abroad. Baltazar Molina, Lisbon born, begins his musical studies in classical guitar in 1994 at the Sociedade Filarmónica Comércio e Indústria da Amadora.

In 1998 starts his studies in Middle Eastern percussion with Shokry Mohamed and in 1999 with Atef Mitkal Kenawy. In 2002 enrolls the Piano and Choir Initiation Course at the Jeunesses Musicales School in Lisbon. Between 2007 and 2014 attends different music seminars with Zohar Fresco, Pedram Khavarzamini, Ross Daly and Éfren Lopez.

As a composer, musician and performer, Baltazar regularly collaborates in various dance, theater and new circus productions. Of note several productions by Companhia Erva Daninha: ‘Noites Brancas’ (2008), ‘Trinspira’ (2008), ‘Fio Prumo’ (2009), ‘Aduela – Spera Mundi’ (2012), ‘Última Aduela’ (2014), ‘Baínha’ (2014), ‘Savar AM’ (2017) and ‘Vão’ (2019). Co-founder of Plataforma Al-Mah, he produces seminars, concerts and workshops by renowned international artists and pedagogues, in the fields of music and dance, between 2002 and 2016.

As a performer, instrumentalist and facilitator, there are many projects and collaborations that have been part of his career since 1998, which translate into an eclectic discography and an extensive list of stages and events trodden in Portugal, Germany, Spain, France, Switzerland, Belgium, Luxembourg, Holland, Czech Republic, Estonia , Croatia, Poland, Mexico, Chile, Canada, Cabo Verde, Greece and Morocco. In addition to the typical concert venue it is possible to find him playing in contexts of devotional music, sound-healing journeys, in dance and yoga classes and events; as well as facilitating musical experiences in ​​personal development, retreats and also teaching various musical instruments.
